Running Club 2021
         

Gold Rush Running club is back in business!

Age Limits and Class size: Running club is open to all 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. There is a maximum of 50 participants.

Fee:  Cost is $17.00 dollars per child for all 10 classes, plus the tokens & necklace.

Sign- up: Done on line through "My School Bucks."  Registration begins on  August 30.

Class dates and times: Tuesday & Thursday mornings from 7:40 - 8:15.  
September 2, 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 28, 30.  October 5 and 7.  
Digger Dash was rescheduled after the dates for running club were set.  Run club dates will continue as previously planned with NO class on September 23.  

Where to meet:  We will run on the grass field.  Students should check in under the shade structure and leave their backpacks there.  If it rains, students will meet in the gym for indoor activities.

What to bring:  Participants should wear tennis shoes and bring a full water bottle.  As the weather cools down, a light sweatshirt or jacket is recommended for those brisk mornings.

Do I have to run the whole time?
No, we want students to participate at their own pace wether it be walking, or jogging.  The main idea is to keep moving and take short water breaks.  Running club is mixture of activities.  Some days we are setting personal goals and counting our laps. Other days students are engaged in scavenger hunts, tag games, team relays, and other fun running activities.

The popular "reward tokens" will be used again to keep our runners motivated and consistent with their work-outs.  The tokens are tiny achievement symbols (see below) and will be given out at the end of each class.  Students who miss a class can make up 20 minutes of exercise on their own time, turn in a parent 
confirmation note, and receive the missed token.
